Feast of Saint Thomas, Apostle
Reading 1 : Ephesians 2:19-22
Brothers and sisters:
You are no longer strangers and sojourners,
but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones
and members of the household of God,
built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.
Through him the whole structure is held together
and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord;
in him you also are being built together
into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Gospel : John 20:24-29
Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve,
was not with them when Jesus came.
So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”
But Thomas said to them,
“Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands
and put my finger into the nailmarks
and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Now a week later his disciples were again inside
and Thomas was with them.
Jesus came, although the doors were locked,
and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands,
and bring your hand and put it into my side,
and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”
Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me?
Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”
Message from the Readings
Today’s feast celebrates faith, belonging, and the mercy of Christ.
• Paul reminds us that through Christ, we are part of God’s family — a spiritual temple where God dwells.
• The psalm calls all people to praise God for His steadfast love.
• In the Gospel, Thomas’ journey from doubt to deep faith reveals Jesus’ patience and His desire to draw us closer, even through our questions.
The message is clear:
God welcomes our doubts, strengthens our faith, and invites us into His household of grace.
Reflection for the Day
St. Thomas is often remembered for his doubt, but his story is really one of honesty, encounter, and transformation.
Thomas wanted to believe, but he struggled. He needed clarity. He needed to see Jesus for himself. And Jesus — gentle, patient, understanding — meets Thomas exactly where he is. He doesn’t shame him. He doesn’t reject him. He invites him:
“Put your finger here… and believe.”
Thomas’ response is one of the greatest declarations of faith in Scripture:
“My Lord and my God!”
This moment teaches us something essential:
Faith is not the absence of questions — it is the courage to bring those questions to Jesus.
Paul’s words in Ephesians remind us that this faith brings us into a new identity. We are not outsiders. We are not alone. We are part of God’s household — a living temple built on the apostles, held together by Christ the cornerstone.
Psalm 117 then lifts our hearts to praise. God’s mercy is not fragile. His faithfulness does not fade. His love reaches every nation, every heart, every story — including yours.
Today, let Thomas inspire you:
Bring your doubts. Bring your questions. Bring your longing.
Jesus will meet you there — and lead you to deeper faith.
Prayer for Today
Lord Jesus,
thank You for meeting me in my doubts and questions.
Strengthen my faith as You strengthened Thomas,
and help me proclaim with my heart and life:
“My Lord and my God.”
Make me a living stone in Your household,
rooted in Your love, guided by Your truth,
and open to Your transforming presence today.
