Many Times I Have Turned

Many times I have turned from the way of the Lord,
many times I have chosen the darkness.
In the light of the day, when the shadows are gone,
all I see is my sin in its darkness.

Jesus came to bring us mercy; Jesus came
to bring us life again. { He loves us. {3}

I confess I have sinned in the sight of the Lord,
through my pride, through my malice and weakness.
I’ve rejected the promise that comes from the cross,
where the Lord hung above us in meekness.

The Saviour Is Waiting

The Saviour is waiting to enter your heart
why don’t you let him come in?
There’s nothing in this world to keep you apart
what is your answer to him?

Time after time he has waited before and now
he is waiting again to see if you are willing to
open the door. O how he wants to come in.

If you’ll take one step towards the Saviour,
my friend, you’ll find his arms open wide;
receive him and all of your darkness will end,
within your heart, he’ll abide.

Jesus My Lord Behold

Jesus, my Lord, behold at length the time
when I resolve to turn away from crime.

O pardon me, Jesus; thy mercy I implore;
I will never more offend thee, {2} no, nevermore.

Kneeling in tears, behold me at thy feet;
like Magdalene, forgiveness I entreat.

There Is Power In The Blood

Would you be free from your burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
would you over evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder
working power in the blood of the Lamb.
There is power, power wonder working power
in the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
there’s wonderful power in the blood.

Would you be whiter much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
sin stains are washed in its life-giving flow;
there’s wonderful power in the blood.

For You Are My God

For you are my God: you alone are my joy.
Defend me, O Lord.

You give marvellous comrades to me:
the faithful who dwell in your land. Those who
choose alien gods have chosen an alien band.

You are my portion and cup; it is you that
I claim for my prize. Your heritage is my delight,
the lot you have given me.

O Lord Be Not Mindful

O Lord, be not mindful of our guilt
and our sins, O Lord, do not judge us
for our faults and offences.
May your merciful love be upon us.

Help your people, Lord, O God our Saviour,
deliver us for the glory of your name.

Pardon us, O Lord, all our sins,
deliver us for the glory of your name.

Praise to you, O Lord, through all ages
without end, deliver us for the glory of your name.

Give Me Thy Heart

“Give me thy heart,” says the Father above.
No gift so precious to Him as our love;
softly he whispers wherever thou art:
“Gratefully trust me and give me thy heart.”

“Give me thy heart, give me thy heart.”
Hear the soft whisper, wherever thou art;
from this dark world, he would draw thee apart
speaking so tenderly, “Give me thy heart.”

“Give me thy heart,” says the Saviour of all,
calling in mercy again and again;
“Turn now from sin and evil depart
have I not died for thee? Give me thy heart.”

“Give me thy heart,” says the Spirit divine,
“All that thou hast to my keeping resign;
grace more abounding is mine to impart
make full surrender and give me thy heart.”

Dear Lord and Father of Mankind

  1. Dear Lord and Father of mankind,
    forgive our foolish ways;
    reclothe us in our rightful mind,
    in purer lives thy service find,
    in deeper reverence, praise.
  2. In simple trust like theirs who heard,
    beside the Syrian sea,
    the gracious calling of the Lord,
    let us, like them, without a word,
    rise up and follow thee.
  3. O sabbath rest by Galilee,
    O calm of hills above,
    where Jesus knelt to share with thee
    the silence of eternity,
    interpreted by love!
  4. Drop thy still dews of quietness,
    till all our strivings cease;
    take from our souls the strain and stress,
    and let our ordered lives confess
    the beauty of thy peace.
  5. Breathe through the heats of our desire
    thy coolness and thy balm;
    let sense be dumb, let flesh retire;
    speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire,
    O still, small voice of calm.

Forty Days And Forty Nights

Forty Days And Forty Nights
Thou Wast Fasting In The Wild;
Forty Days And Forty Nights
Tempted, And Yet Undefiled.

Sunbeams Scorching All The Day;
Chilly Dew-Drops Nightly Shed;
Prowling Beasts About Thy Way;
Stones Thy Pillow; Earth Thy Bed.

Should Not We Thy Sorrow Share
And From Worldly Joys Abstain,
Fasting With Unceasing Prayer,
Strong With Thee To Suffer Pain?

Then If Satan On Us Press,
Jesus, Savior, Hear Our Call!
Victor In The Wilderness,
Grant We May Not Faint Nor Fall!

So Shall We Have Peace Divine:
Holier Gladness Ours Shall Be;
Round Us, Too, Shall Angels Shine,
Such As Ministered To Thee.

Keep, O Keep Us, Savior Dear,
Ever Constant By Thy Side;
That With Thee We May Appear
At The Eternal Eastertide.

Led By The Spirit

Led by the Spirit of our God, we go to
fast and pray with Christ into the wilderness;
we join his paschal way.
“Rend not your garments, rend your hearts.
Turn back your lives to me.”
Thus says our kind and gracious God,
whose reign is liberty.

Led by the Spirit, we confront temptation
face to face, and know full well we must rely
on God’s redeeming grace.
On bread alone, we cannot live,
but nourished by the Word
we seek the will of God to do:
this is our drink and food.

Led by the Spirit, now draw near the waters
of rebirth with hearts that long to worship God
in Spirit and in truth.
“Whoever drinks the drink I give
shall never thirst again.”
Thus says the Lord who died for us,
our Saviour, kin and friend.
