Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Reading 1 : Ezekiel 43:1-7ab

The angel led me to the gate which faces the east,
and there I saw the glory of the God of Israel
coming from the east.
I heard a sound like the roaring of many waters,
and the earth shone with his glory.
The vision was like that which I had seen
when he came to destroy the city,
and like that which I had seen by the river Chebar.
I fell prone as the glory of the LORD entered the temple
by way of the gate which faces the east,
but spirit lifted me up and brought me to the inner court.
And I saw that the temple was filled with the glory of the LORD.
Then I heard someone speaking to me from the temple,
while the man stood beside me.
The voice said to me:
Son of man, this is where my throne shall be,
this is where I will set the soles of my feet;
here I will dwell among the children of Israel forever.

Responsorial Psalm : Psalm 85:9ab, 10, 11-12, 13-14

R. (see 10b) The glory of the Lord will dwell in our land.
I will hear what God proclaims;
the LORD–for he proclaims peace.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him,
glory dwelling in our land.

Kindness and truth shall meet;
justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and justice shall look down from heaven.

Gospel : Matthew 23:1-12

Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying,
“The scribes and the Pharisees
have taken their seat on the chair of Moses.
Therefore, do and observe all things whatsoever they tell you,
but do not follow their example.
For they preach but they do not practice.
They tie up heavy burdens hard to carry
and lay them on people’s shoulders,
but they will not lift a finger to move them.
All their works are performed to be seen.
They widen their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues,
greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation ‘Rabbi.’
As for you, do not be called ‘Rabbi.’
You have but one teacher, and you are all brothers.
Call no one on earth your father;
you have but one Father in heaven.
Do not be called ‘Master’;
you have but one master, the Christ.
The greatest among you must be your servant.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled;
but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

 Message from the Readings

Today’s readings proclaim a profound truth:
God dwells among His people in glory, and He raises the humble—just as He raised Mary to be Queen of Heaven.
• Ezekiel reveals God’s desire to be present with His people.
• The psalm celebrates God’s justice, peace, and faithful love.
• Jesus teaches that true greatness comes through humility and service.
The message is clear: Where God dwells, glory shines. Where humility reigns, God exalts.

  Reflection for the Day

On this beautiful memorial of the Queenship of Mary, the readings draw our eyes to the glory of God and the humility that leads to exaltation.
Ezekiel’s vision is breathtaking: the glory of God approaches like the roar of mighty waters, the earth shines, the Temple fills with His presence.
God declares: “This is where my throne shall be… here I will dwell among the children of Israel forever.”
This is not a distant God. This is a God who chooses to dwell with His people— to be present, to be near, to be faithful.
Psalm 85 deepens this promise: Kindness and truth meet, justice and peace kiss, and the land yields its increase.
Where God dwells, life flourishes.
Then Jesus speaks to the crowds and His disciples, warning them about leaders who preach but do not live what they teach. Their hearts seek honor, titles, and recognition.
But Jesus offers a different path:
Humility is the way to greatness.
Service is the way to honor. Obedience is the way to glory.
This is the path Mary walked.
She did not seek titles—yet God crowned her Queen. She did not seek honor—yet all generations call her blessed. She did not seek authority—yet she became Mother of the King.
Her Queenship is not about power; it is about perfect humility, perfect obedience, perfect love.
Today’s readings invite us to three movements:

1. Welcome God’s presence.
   Let His glory dwell in the “temple” of your heart.
2. Walk in humility.
   Choose service over status, sincerity over show.
3. Imitate Mary’s surrender.
   Her “yes” made room for God’s glory—so can yours.
   Let today be a day of humble love, radiant faith, and renewed devotion to Mary, our Queen and Mother.

Prayer for Today

Lord Jesus, let Your glory dwell in my heart as it filled the Temple in Ezekiel’s vision.
Give me a spirit of humility that seeks to serve rather than be seen.
Teach me to walk in truth, justice, and peace as Your psalm proclaims.
Mary, Queen and Mother, help me imitate your obedience and love. Lead me closer to Your Son and make my life a place where God’s glory rests.
