Saturday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1 : Galatians 3:22-29

Brothers and sisters:
Scripture confined all things under the power of sin,
that through faith in Jesus Christ
the promise might be given to those who believe.

Before faith came, we were held in custody under law,
confined for the faith that was to be revealed.
Consequently, the law was our disciplinarian for Christ,
that we might be justified by faith.
But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a disciplinarian.
For through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus.
For all of you who were baptized into Christ
have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek,
there is neither slave nor free person,
there is not male and female;
for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants,
heirs according to the promise.

Responsorial Psalm : Psalm 105:2-3, 4-5, 6-7

R. (8a) The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
or:
R. Alleluia.
Sing to him, sing his praise,
proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
Glory in his holy name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
R. The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
or:
R. Alleluia.
Look to the LORD in his strength;
seek to serve him constantly.
Recall the wondrous deeds that he has wrought,
his portents, and the judgments he has uttered.
R. The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
or:
R. Alleluia.
You descendants of Abraham, his servants,
sons of Jacob, his chosen ones!
He, the LORD, is our God;
throughout the earth his judgments prevail.
R. The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
or:
R. Alleluia.

Alleluia : Luke 11:28

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are those who hear the word of God
and observe it.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel : Luke 11:27-28

While Jesus was speaking,
a woman from the crowd called out and said to him,
“Blessed is the womb that carried you
and the breasts at which you nursed.”
He replied, “Rather, blessed are those
who hear the word of God and observe it.”

Message from the Readings

Today’s readings proclaim a simple but life‑changing truth:
Faith makes us God’s children, and obedience to His Word makes us truly blessed.
• Paul reveals that faith unites us beyond all human categories.
• The psalm reminds us to remember God’s faithful works.
• Jesus teaches that true blessedness comes from living God’s Word.
The message is clear: Identity in Christ + obedience to God’s Word = authentic Christian life.

 Reflection for the Day

Paul’s teaching in Galatians is bold and freeing.
He declares that in Christ:
• Jew or Greek
• Slave or free
• Male or female
All are one. All are heirs. All belong.
This unity is not about erasing differences — it is about erasing division.
Faith becomes the great bridge, the place where every heart finds belonging, the family where Christ Himself is our identity.
Psalm 105 invites us to remember:
• God’s wonders
• God’s covenant
• God’s faithfulness
We are part of a long story — a story of promise, mercy, and divine love that stretches across generations.
Then Jesus offers a gentle correction.
A woman praises His mother — a beautiful truth — but Jesus points to something deeper:
“Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”
Blessing is not only about closeness to holy people, or admiration of holy things. Blessing is about obedience.
It is about listening to God’s voice and shaping our lives around His Word.
Today’s readings invite us to three movements:

  1. Embrace your identity in Christ.
You are God’s child — clothed in Christ, united with His people.
  2. Remember God’s faithfulness.
Your life is part of His covenant story.
  3. Live the Word you hear.
True blessing flows from obedience, not merely admiration.
Let today be a day of unity, remembrance, and faithful living.

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for making me Your child through faith in Christ. Clothe me again in His grace, and unite my heart with Your people.
Help me remember Your faithful deeds and trust Your covenant love.
Teach me to hear Your Word and to live it with courage, so that my life may reflect the true blessing Jesus speaks of.
Amen.
